A final field of nine three-year-olds take to the Sydney track on Saturday in the $400,000 Group 2 Schweppes Hobartville Stakes (1400m).
A half-brother to Criterion, Fastnet Rock colt Cominâ Through is drawn well in barrier four with Michael Walker staying aboard the early favourite.
First-up the galloper ran 1.3 lengths away fifth behind Man From Uncle at Randwick in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m).
Winner of the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) over the mile at Flemington last Derby Day, Cominâ Through was always going to be vulnerable resuming over the sprint distance.
Stepping up to 1400m on Saturday will suit and Cominâ Through leads the Hobartville Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $4.20.
He holds a host of Group 1 nominations over the upcoming Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival including for the $2 million Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) over the mile and a half on Day 1 of The Championships â April 1.
Close second favourite in Hobartville Stakes betting this season at $4.50 is the current $11 favourite in futures 2017 Australian Derby odds, Prized Icon.
Prepared by James Cummings, the dual Group 1 winning More Than Ready colt was last seen taking out the Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on October 29.
No doubt getting out over more distance later this prep Prized Icon can secure more elite level success, but the odds for a 1400m win look short this weekend on the proven stayer.
In an open market a further four Hobartville Stakes hopefuls are under $10 for the win including Man From Uncle at $5.50 to enjoy back-to-back victories.
Jason Collett retains the ride on the Anthony Cummings-trained son of Uncle Mo who scored the upset first-up at the start of the month as a $21 shot in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.
It was an impressive resuming effort from out wide, but how Man From Uncle handles the step up in class and distance in the Hobartville will be key to his chances of winning again.
Drawn the rails with Tim Clark riding is $8 fancy Veladero second-up who covered plenty of ground in his resuming fourth over the distance (1400m) at Randwick on February 4.
The Waller-trained Medaglia DâOro colt is a previous Rosehill winner having taken on the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at the track last September before a fourth to Yankee Rose in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).
He will strip fitter for his first-up run, but could already be looking for more distance.
Rounding out the single figure hopes in betting are returning Victoria Derby third placed So You Think colt Inference ($9) for Hawkes Racing and the John OâShea-trained son of Lonhro Bryneich ($9.50) out to improve on his Eskimo Prince seventh.
Kerrin McEvoy meanwhile rides the early market mover Acatour who has been solidly backed in from $15 to $10 for his first run since finishing a mid-field fifth behind Cominâ Through in the Carbine Club Stakes.
