Running as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:30pm (AEDT) this year’s $175,000 Group 2 Cellarbrations Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) has attracted a final field of 10 three-year-olds looking to emulate champion Winx who won the race 12 months ago.

Four of those are fillies including Sacred Eye who races second-up after her close fifth when beaten two lengths by Don’t Doubt Mamma at Flemington on February 20 in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m).

She is yet to race in Sydney or over the 1500m, but has good form over a mile and winning form up to 2000m having defeated Caulfield Guineas runner-up Lizard Island in the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes in the Spring.

Sacred Eye tracks towards a run in the $1 million Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 9 during ‘The Championships’ and is at $17 through Ladbrokes.com.au in pre-field markets for the mile and a half classic.

Hong Kong-based Brett Prebble has the ride on Sacred Eye this weekend from a nice barrier three draw.

Drawn one on her inside in gate two is the Nick Olive-trained Single Gaze coming off back-to-back seconds.

The first was back in early January at the Gold Coast behind Mahuta in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas before her second to the undefeated Ghisoni, who runs in Saturday’s $600,000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), on February 27 in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m).

The other fillies in the Phar Lap Stakes field are the John O’Shea-trained Listed Canberra Guineas (1400m) winner from March 6 Italy with the outside barrier (10) to overcome and the undefeated Believe.

Kerrin McEvoy rides the Anthony Cummings-trained daughter of Fastnet Rock this weekend, Believe having won both of her starts including a 1500m Rosehill race on February 24 to sit as a $17 2016 Australian Oaks hope in futures betting.

Along with Italy, O’Shea and the Godolphin stable are also represented by Lonhro colt Old North coming off a Warwick Farm win over 1400m from March 2 when carrying 60.5kg.

He is looking to earn a shot at the $2 million Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) on April 2 and pays $17 to win the Randwick classic.

Another last start winner in the mix is Cranbourne-based Hattori Hanzo, the Michael Kent-trained Sebring gelding having saluted over 1413m at Sale on February 16 and then over 1514m at Moonee Valley 10 days later.

The inside run in the race meanwhile belongs to the Luke Price-trained Spring Champion Stakes third placegetter Man Of Choice out to atone for his 11th to Le Romain in last Saturday’s Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m).
