Anthony Cummingsâ in-form Hobartville Stakes winner Man From Uncle has suffered an early blow ahead of his bid at a Group 1 win drawing out in barrier 13 in the 2017 Randwick Guineas field.

The son of Uncle Mo is one of a gun line-up of 14 three-year-olds engaged for this seasonâs $1 million Group 1 Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas (1600m) field, the event set to run as Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
Coming up with the second widest barrier, Man From Uncle chases a third win on the trot having also won the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) first-up at Randwick in early February.
Jason Collett continues associations with the progressive young galloper who, if successful, will complete the Hobartville Stakes â Randwick Guineas double for the third time in four years joining Dissident (2014) and Hallowed Crown (2015).
Le Romain (2nd in 2016) also backed-up out of the Group 2 Rosehill race before his Randwick Guineas success last Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Two of the past five Randwick Guineas winners jumped from double-digits with Mosheen (12 of 14 in 2012) and Dissident (12 of 14 in 2014), but none have got the job done from 13 in over three decades.
The extreme outside barrier (14) meanwhile belongs on Saturday to the reigning Victoria Derby winner Prized Icon prepared by Anthony Cummingsâ son, James.
Glyn Schofield is the hoop charged with overcome the gate on the classy More Than Ready colt who backs up out of a sixth beaten two and a quarter lengths in the Hobartville Stakes.
Prized Icon may be a genuine staying type, but he has won two of his three starts over the mile to date and is looking to be the first Randwick Guineas winner from barrier 14 since the filly Tycoon Lil (1998).
Along with Man From Uncle, the only other last start winner in the Randwick Guineas field this season is the Kris Lees-trained Invincible Gem who is the sole filly in the mix this year.
Mosheen (2012) was the last Randwick Guineas filly and Invincible Gem is out to be the next coming off three straight wins for last yearâs Randwick Guineas winning trainer Lees.
The latest saw her step up to a mile for the first time and thrive, scoring a runaway four length win in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at the Randwick track on February 13.
The other two best out of the Hobartville Stakes meanwhile are runner-up Echo Effect who went down by the narrowest of margins and the highly-spruiked Chris Waller-trained third-placegetter Cominâ Through.
Cominâ Through is drawn a treat in gate four on the weekend, the half-brother to Criterion chasing his first win since the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last Derby Day.
The Fastnet Rock colt should be nearing his peak third-up extending out to a mile and has the âMagic Manâ Joao Moreira booked for the ride in another plus.
